Here at Richwoods we will stop at nothing to not only achieve success but strive to go far beyond it in the process. From sports to bands and even puzzles, we try to be the best at everything we apply ourselves into. This brings us to Aiden Post, a Senior who is nothing short of the standard of excellence. A phenomenal member of our school’s Symphonic Winds, as well as our jazz and pep band. He is also an exceptional runner in cross country and involves himself in many personal organizations and projects of his own, improving not only himself, but the room around him day by day.
For those unaware, Aiden and his father were involved in a terrible car wreck from a semi-truck, and were left in critical condition. According to the general public, the incident was expected to end with lives lost, but to everyone’s surprise, they prevailed. As of today, they have miraculously pulled through and are in great shape. The Post family is a family that follows in their faith, and live their lives as selfless, gracious people. This faith and strength helped them pull through what would have been considered a tragedy for most, and great news has continued to circulate and keep us in the loop via Mrs. Carol Post. Their prayers and ours have allowed them to go beyond the expectations of others and find themselves in a safe and comfortable position once again.
As a student who is very close to Aiden, I can say with confidence that this was and sometimes still is not an easy event to have lived through, even secondhand. It has brought people together, it’s given us hope, and whether they know him or not, Aiden is an extremely inspirational figure in Peoria, better yet Illinois. It goes without saying that this has been a very changing moment for everybody in our community. As recent news has been getting out, both Aiden and his father have recovered greatly, restoring their speech, hearing, sight, and even movement. It is truly a sight to see. Aiden has always kept his chin up in trying times, always eager to simply express himself and to make others smile. “If I could play music for every class I would be so happy,” he would frequently say. Keeping close to his faith, his family, and himself, Aiden Post stands not only as a student, friend, brother, son, or musician, but a beacon of hope. He is a reminder that nothing is impossible, and that you can overcome any obstacle you are met with.
