Recently, some of the biggest youtubers released a new product called Lunchly. Lunchly was marketed as an alternative to Lunchables for young children and teenagers. However, people quickly became concerned when many influencers and parents found mold in the cheese. Additionally, many doctors made videos explaining that the calorie count in both Lunchables and Lunchly is HIGHLY unsustainable for a child’s diet; with Lunchly being worse. Which is ironic, given that MrBeast, Logan Paul, and KSI promoted Lunchly as a healthier, lower calorie option compared to Lunchables.
What really started the backlash was when popular YouTuber DanTDM, who is known for his Minecraft videos, spoke on the situation with a tweet criticizing Logan Paul, Mrbeast, and KSI for exploiting their young fans. His comment quickly gained attention, and KSI and Logan Paul escalated the situation by responding defensively. This made people start mocking Lunchly. Logan Paul also got into an argument with another Minecraft Youtuber, Tommyinnit, for similar reasons.
Doctors have pointed out that Lunchly may not meet the nutritional needs of growing children. With less than 300 calories per box, it doesn’t come close to the recommended daily calorie counts for a healthy lunch. Dr. Mike, a popular physician on YouTube, pointed this out in a recent video, stating, “For children, lunch should provide sustained energy. Meals with insufficient calories or nutrients can lead to fatigue, poor focus, and even growth issues.” Many doctors, parents, and other influencers have also pointed out how a child might accidentally eat some of the mold found in the pizza kits and get really sick.
While everyone was bashing Lunchly, KSI decided it was a good time to release his song “Thick of It” ft. Trippie Red. However, everyone was bashing the song for being too childish and unserious. KSI began talking about how the hate for his new song is forced as a result of Lunchly, which further ruined his reputation and continued the hate for Lunchly.
Overall Lunchly wasn’t a good product, when Mrbeast made his statement on twitter it felt like he was saying they made an unhealthy product, a bit less unhealthy. The time of the release was also unfortunate, because MrBeast was in the midst of a lot of allegations. Both KSI and Logan Paul’s reputation was ruined and Lunchly became sort of like a meme. And that’s why the Lunchly and Thick of It launch failed.
