Homecoming 2025 at Richwoods High School was weeks of planning, hours of decorating and a lot of teamwork that turned our school into an unforgettable experience as “A Knight in Rio Carnival”. The excitement kicked off with spirit week, and with all the various prompts students were able to dress in different themes such as Tropical, Feathery Fib, Twin, and Neon Day. These fun days brought the student body together, filling the hallways with energy and setting up a perfect tone for the homecoming parade where fall clubs and teams had a float and passed out candy to the many enthusiastic families, friends, and students. They lined up around the parade cheering the Richwoods students on and received candy from all the students on the floats. During the parade the event’s festive atmosphere helped foster a feeling of community and connection.
The excitement continued on to two pep assemblies that kept the bleachers shaking and the adrenaline running and eventually led to the Juniors winning the spirit stick. Performances by the Royalettes, the cheerleaders, band and the various students participating in different games kept students on their toes.
To continue the hype, Friday afternoon the football team played their homecoming game against Centennial and brought in a student’s section like no other. The stands were loud and packed with students chanting and cheering dressed in tropical outfits for the game’s theme. The school spirit was in the air, and the team clearly had lots of support behind it.
However, it’s important not to forget that to host such a dance there was a lot of behind-the-scenes work done by the Student Council. Led by Mrs. Hayes, they worked countless hours to organize the spirit weekdays, decorate the hallways by grade level and transform the Richwoods gym into a night in Rio Carnival. By the time the doors opened on Saturday, the entire gym had become a work of art with decorations, colors, lights and music and overall was complemented by the good vibes of the dance. The hard work paid off and created the perfect atmosphere for a night of dancing and memories that students will look back to for years to come.
Homecoming this year, along with any year, wasn’t just a dance but a week of school spirit, collaboration, and creativity that brought everyone together and reminded us of what it means to be a Knight.
