With all the new artists that arose in 2024 and the number of new albums and singles that got released this year, it is safe to say 2024 was an important year for music—from artists like Chappell Roan, CharliXCX, and Sabrina Carpenter finally getting recognition for their sound, to established musicians exploring different music styles, like Billie Eilish, Tyler the Creator, and more. 2024 has redefined what it means to succeed in the music industry.
In 2024, there were so many new artists that had been in the industry before but only now are getting traction for either opening for a bigger artist or headlining at Coachella. For example, despite already being famous in the 2010’s, Bruno Mars had a comeback year with no new album release but collaborations with Lady Gaga and Rosé on Die with a Smile and APT. Respectively, two other breakout artists are Benson Boone and Tyla who both got recognition for a song they released that garnered them fame.
Another reason 2024 was such a great year for music was the new albums and singles from both beloved artists and new artists. Like CHROMOKOPIA by Tyler the Creator, Gnx by Kendrick Lamar, Cowboy Carter by Beyonce, Eternal Sunshine by Ariana Grande, and many more. There were also a lot of artists who had not released music in years and decided that 2024 was time to start again. A majority of them did not disappoint.
There have also been a lot of significant moments in 2024. One was Drake and Kendrick having a rap battle. The reason it was so significant was because it started a discussion on many issues that were brought up in their songs as disses. The rap battle was a huge cultural influence.
With all the success of 2024 music-wise at least, people have started making predictions for 2025. For instance, many people predict that in 2025 Doechii and Lola Young will get recognition for their unique sound. Not many, but some people predict that CharliXCX will stop making music after she headlines at Coachella. Despite the prediction, one thing is for certain. 2025 will most likely be the year for touring, with many artists announcing that they’re going on tour or have already started touring, like Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, and SZA.
